Formation Of The Supervisory Body And Derivative Rules Of The PDP Law Delayed, There Is No Target When To Complete
JAKARTA - Director General of Digital Space Supervision of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, Alexander Sabar, confirmed that the derivative rules and supervisory bodies of the Personal Data Protection Law (PDP) are still in progress.
The PDP Law has been fully in effect since October 17, 2024. However, the supervisory body and derivatives of the PDP Law which were previously targeted to be completed in early October 2024 were still unfinished.
"This is currently in the process, if I'm not mistaken, now is the preparation of the RPP," Alex told the media after the Inauguration of the Ministry of Communication and Digital High Officials on Monday, January 13 in Jakarta.
Selain itu, Alex juga mengakui bahwa pembentukan badan pelaksana untuk pengawasan PDP masih berada dalam tahap awal.Meski demikian, fung-function pengawasan sementara sebelum resmi dibentuk badan pengawas PDP ini diperta atau berada di bawah Ditjen Pengawasan Ruang Digital Komdigi.
"The body is not yet, we don't know yet. But it's still in process. So now the incubation PDP is still under the supervision of the digital space," he explained.

When asked about the completion time target, Alex could not provide certainty. "I have not received any information. But the preparation of several RPPs is in progress, and the body preparation is still ongoing," added Alex.
This PDP Law is expected to provide a strong legal umbrella to protect the personal data of all Indonesian citizens, especially in today's massive digital era.
