Hasto Kubu Sends Letter To KPK, Asks For Examination Postponement For Submitting Pretrial
JAKARTA The legal team of the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto sent two letters to the leadership of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Monday, January 13, 2025.
One of the letters contained a request to postpone the examination of Hasto, who is currently a suspect in the alleged bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the obstruction of the investigation.
"The basis for the request for postponement is because the legal advisor has submitted a pretrial application," said Patra Zein, one of Hasto's attorneys, to reporters at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta.
Patra explained that the examination should have been postponed considering that the pretrial was aimed at testing whether or not the suspect was determined against Hasto. "This trial only lasted seven days," he said.
In addition to the letter of application for postponement, the second letter sent by Hasto's legal team contained evidence of registration for a pretrial application to the South Jakarta District Court on Friday, January 10, 2025.
"We are waiting for a response from the KPK leadership, whether this letter was received and there is a policy related to the examination," said Patra.
Hasto Kristiyanto arrived at the KPK's Red and White Building at around 09.30 WIB. Based on observations, he came using a red and white bus, accompanied by his team of attorneys, including the Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Legal Reform Ronny B. Talapessy and Maqdir Ismail.
The KPK previously developed a case of alleged bribery related to PAW, a member of the DPR who dragged former KPU Commissioner Wahyu Setiawan and fugitive Harun Masiku. In the development of the case, Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah as well as a lawyer were named new suspects.

In addition to the alleged bribery, Hasto is also suspected of obstructing the investigation of the case. He was accused of asking Harun Masiku to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
On Monday, January 6, 2025, Hasto was actually scheduled to undergo an examination as a suspect. However, he asked for a postponement on the grounds that he attended a series of scheduled PDIP Anniversary events.
