Coordinating Minister AHY: Cooperation With Japan Supports Resilient And Environmentally Friendly Infrastructure

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) revealed that cooperation with Japan supports resilient and environmentally friendly infrastructure.

AHY expressed his appreciation for Japan's commitment to supporting Indonesia's infrastructure development. He also appreciated the Japanese delegation because in the midst of the tight agenda, the Japanese delegation took the time to visit the Coordinating Ministry for Infra.

For large countries such as Indonesia with a population of 270 million people, land, sea and air connectivity is very crucial. This collaboration is expected to reduce logistics costs, support food security, energy, and face the challenges of climate change," he said in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 13.

The Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Kemenko Infra) received a visit from a Japanese delegation led by Mori Masafumi, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, as well as Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism Japan, Terada Yoshimichi. This meeting discussed strengthening cooperation in the infrastructure sector between the two countries.

"We appreciate Japan's experience in building a resilient and environmentally friendly infrastructure. This collaboration is expected to create joint solutions, including technology transfer and strengthening local industrial capacity," said AHY.

On this occasion, a cooperation plan was also discussed in the field of waste management, smart city development, and disaster mitigation, including the development of sea embankments to protect the North Coast of Java from abrasion and land subsidence.

Mori Masafumi as a Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan, expressed his support for various infrastructure projects in Indonesia.

Mori Masafumi also highlighted the importance of support for the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)-based housing development program and the integration of industrial estates that Indonesia is currently and will implement.

According to him, Japan has extensive experience in building modern urban areas. Mori is optimistic that this collaboration will further strengthen strategic relations between the two countries.
