Reconciliation With Megawati, Prabowo Can Eliminate Jokowi's Influence On Power

JAKARTA Unair political observer, Airlangga Pribadi Kusman assessed that Megawati Soekarnoputri's speech at the PDIP Anniversary, which was full of praise for Prabowo Subianto, was a reconciliation effort that could lead to the loss of Jokowi's influence in the government.

"More is an affirmation of good relations between the two of them, as has been conveyed by the PDIP elites if there is never a problem with relations with Prabowo and Gerindra," he said, Sunday, January 12, 2025.

According to him, through this statement Megawati was opening the door of communication to establish political cooperation with Prabowo and the coalition political parties supporting the government. Moreover, Megawati and Prabowo are said to have scheduled a meeting even before the inauguration of the president last October 20.

Furthermore, Airlangga revealed that the good relationship between Megawati and Prabowo would have an impact on reducing and even losing Jokowi's influence in the circle of power. It is not impossible, there is a re-shake of the coalition that leads to the excretion of Jokowi's political influence.

"Of course the consequences are, amid strong public pressure to stop Jokowi's influence on the orbit of power, this process will re-shuffle the alliance's pattern of more strong roles to Megawati in the bargaining position with Prabowo," he explained.

As is known, the Chairperson of the PDI-P, Megawati Soekarnoputri, denied the issue of conflict or hostility with the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party.

"Media thinks, 'I'm with Mr. Prabowo, are you enemies?' No, really. However, I said (to Prabowo), 'Mas, we can do it, I'm ketum, you ketum. If you do that, see your subordinates done, what's it like?' As a ketum, our feelings must be the same," said Megawati in her speech at the 52nd PDIP Anniversary commemoration, Friday, January 10, 2025.
