Defense Minister: Kopassus Must Have A Qualified 'Soft Power'
JAKARTA - Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) must be equipped with qualified humanitarian or soft power techniques to complement its military operations capabilities.
"I have given input to the TNI Commander and Danjen Kopassus. We are not only talking about hard power operations, but also soft power. Therefore, we need to facilitate things related to humanity in it," Sjafrie said in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday.
This was conveyed when he visited the Special Forces Education and Training Center (Pusdiklatpassus) Kopassus in Batujajar, Bandung, together with the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.

This visit was carried out in relation to the plan to build a city battle training facility (Faslat Purkota) designed to support the training of the entire TNI dimension.
The training facility will also be equipped with humanitarian support facilities as part of efforts to realize exercises that not only focus on military operations but also cover aspects of humanity.
In addition, the Minister of Defense also emphasized the importance of having training facilities with a multidimensional approach in accordance with the increasingly complex modern battle scenario.
"It's time for us to have training facilities and infrastructure that not only focus on one dimension such as city battles, but are able to answer operational challenges with various multidimensional scenarios," he added.
