League Results 1: Persebaya Tumbang Di Kandang PSS Sleman
JAKARTA - Persebaya Surabaya failed to get a number when making a visit to PSS Sleman's headquarters for the 18th week of Liga 1 2024/2025. Bajul Ijo conceded three goals before halftime and was only able to reply to one through a penalty at the beginning of the second half at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, evening WIB.
Gustavo Tocantins immediately succeeded in bringing the hosts ahead when the game had only been running for four minutes. He maximized the bait from his colleague Abduh Lestaluhu.
Thirteen minutes later the second goal of the Javanese Super Eagle was born. Cleberson avoided the offside trap and managed to head the ball perfectly with Betinho's shot.
Persebaya had cut the score with a measured Bruno Moreira shot after that. However, this goal was not approved by the referee because Flavio Silva had violated Cleberson before the goal.
PSS then added to the score in the extra minutes of the first half. Nicolao Dumitru Cardoso listed his name on the scoreboard thanks to a pass sent by Tocantins.
At the beginning of the second half of the match, Persebaya's new player, Dejan Tumbas, had the opportunity to break into the opponent's goal. Unfortunately, this goal was again denied by the referee so PSS was comfortable to lead.
The consolation goal of Paul Munster's squad was then born in the 59th minute through Bruno Moreira's execution from the penalty spot. The referee gave a prize at the spot because Cleberson was deemed to have violated Tumbas.
This defeat made Persebaya fail to stick to Persib Bandung at the top of the standings. Maung Bandung in the previous match could only draw with PSBS Biak.
Persebaya currently sits in second place in the standings with the number of points remaining at 37. They are three points adrift of Persib Bandung who sits at the top.
