Coordinating Minister For Food Zulhas Reveals There Is A Potential Budget For Free Nutrition Eating Programs To Increase By IDR 140 Trillion

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs (Menko Pangan) Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the budget for Free Nutrition Food (MBG) has the potential to increase by IDR 140 trillion in 2025.

"If later the President decides to add, if you look at the state budget, it will add Rp140 trillion in July or August. Plus Rp140 trillion, then later the beneficiaries will cover 82.9 million students who will get a nutritious lunch," said Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas, at the Banten Governor's Hall, Serang, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 11.

Zulhas said that currently the MBG budget approved by the DPR RI in 2025 is IDR 71 trillion.

In its implementation, from January to April, the program will target 3 million students who receive benefits. Meanwhile, from April to August, theneficiaries will reach 6 million.

"August-December it's 15 million to 17,500,000. It's a budget of IDR 71 trillion. Now I'm trying," he said again.

The Free Nutrition Food Program (MBG) is a priority program of President Prabowo Subianto's Government which has been officially implemented since Monday 6 January in schools and posyandu in 26 provinces in Indonesia.

The government targets the MBG program to reach three million beneficiaries during January-March 2025. The beneficiaries consist of toddlers, students, PAUD, kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, high school, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.
