30 Cartenz Peace Task Force Personnel Sent To Yalimo Search For Residents Shooting
A total of 30 personnel from the Cartenz Peace Task Force were dispatched to Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains, to help the Yalimo Police search for the perpetrators who shot and tortured and killed two residents.
Papua Police Chief Inspector General Patrige Renwarin said the personnel of the Cartenz Peace Task Force were already in Elelim, the capital of Yalimo Regency, after previously traveling by road from Wamena.
"A total of 30 personnel from the Cartenz Peace Task Force who were assigned to the Yalimo Police have been in Elelim to search for the shooter. They were flown to Wamena and then by land to Elelim," Patrige said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, January 10.
He explained that on Wednesday (8/1) an unknown person (OTK) reportedly killed two residents who worked as woodmen (senso) and one of them suffered gunshot wounds, but there were no bullet projectiles found in his body.
Two civilians who died were killed by OTK, namely Eligung and Abineno Tadona. Currently, the two bodies have been evacuated to Wamena and then sent to their hometowns in South Sulawesi.

"It is not yet certain whether the perpetrators of the KKB group led by Askel Mabel or not are members still investigating," said Patrige.
Askel Mabel is a former member of the National Police who served at the Yalimo Police Station, previously left his duties and entered the forest with four AK 47 firearms and ammunition on June 9, 2024.
