This Is The Amount Of The Copper Concentrat Export Quota Requested By Freeport
Director of Portfolio and Business Development MIND ID, Dilo Seno Widagdo, revealed the amount of the copper export quota requested by PT Freeport Indonesia to the government.
Just so you know, the policy of relaxing copper exports has ended on December 31, 2024.
Previously, the Freepot smelter located at the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) Gresik, East Java experienced a fire that resulted in the temporary suspension of purification activities.
Dilo said Freeport generated 3 million tons of copper concentrate which were sent to a smelter managed by PT Smelting Gresik Manyar of 1.7 million tons, and the remaining 1.3 million tons were sent to a smelter at JIIPE Gresik.
"Our concentrate is from 3 million. 1.3 to PT Smelting, Gersik, Manyer. The 1.7 will go to JIIPE. The problem is to JIIPE. So only 1.7. The 1.3 will remain," said Dilo to the media crew in Jakarta, Thursday, January 9.
Furthermore, Dilo said, the application for concentrat exports was due to a force majeure which caused the PTFI smelter at JIIPE not to operate optimally. The PTFI operation will operate optimally in June 2025.
"We see the export in terms of repairs only in June. After June ramp up until December from 40, 60, 80, to 100 percent," continued Dilo.

Dilo added that PTFI previously proposed an extension of concentrat exports for a year starting January 2025.
"But it seems that maybe the government sees our efforts to accelerate the acceleration of improvement. Maybe only given permission until December," said Dilo.
