Had Obstacled The Traffic Of The East OKU Liaison Road, The Flood Finally Receded

JAKARTA - The road connecting Banban Ulu Hamlet with Banban Ilir, in Belitang Madang Raya District, Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Timur Regency, South Sumatra (Sumsel) almost broke up due to flooding in the local area.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the East OKU Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Budi Widiyanto, said the flood was caused by high rainfall from Wednesday, January 8 night until this morning.

Floods inundated the road segment as high as five centimeters until there was a queue of two- and four-wheeled vehicles crossing the route.

"The road can still be passed by vehicles slowly. If it rains, it is feared that this road will be cut off until the traffic flow is completely paralyzed," he said in Martapura, Thursday, January 9, which was confiscated by Antara.

Receiving reports from the public, his party sent personnel to the flood site for suction using a pump engine.

BPBD personnel together with the surrounding community suck up floodwaters so that the traffic flow on the road returns smoothly.

"As of this afternoon, the flood has receded and community activities have returned to normal," he said.

On this occasion, Budi again reminded the public to continue to increase their vigilance in the face of potential aftershocks so as not to cause casualties.

"Currently, we are increasing the monitoring of the Mancak River discharge so that if it overflows, it will be immediately forwarded to the public to be vigilant as early as possible," he said.
