Airlangga Invites Hong Kong Business Actors To Invest In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The government continues to encourage the strengthening of international cooperation in the investment sector to increase national economic growth and competitiveness, including through various bilateral meetings with strategic partners, the Government is actively exploring opportunities for strategic cooperation in various mainstay sectors.

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto received a visit from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Financial Secretary Paul Chan at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy.

Paul's visit to explore various investment opportunities between Hong Kong and Indonesia and the meeting he said that Hong Kong could become a potential partner to develop supply chain services in Indonesia.

As one of the largest financial services providers in Asia, Hong Kong sees various potential collaborations that are significant with Indonesia, especially in the financial sector.

In response to this, Airlangga welcomed the investment plan and financing cooperation offered by Hong Kong in building supply chain facilities and other infrastructure projects.

In addition, Airlangga also encouraged business people from Hong Kong to dig deeper into various investment opportunities in Indonesia.

"The Indonesian government provides various fiscal incentives such as Tax Holiday, Tax Allowance, Investment Allowance, and Super Deduction Tax. The various facilities provided allow business entities from Indonesia and Hong Kong to access a wider market and increase business efficiency," said Airlangga in his statement, Thursday, January 9.

Airlangga added, there are several other potential cooperation sectors that Hong Kong investors can explore, such as renewable energy and greenfield.

According to Airlangga, Indonesia offers various promising collaborations with significant growth potential, such as Special Economic Zones (SEZs), with a focus on areas such as industry, tourism, manufacturing, and digital.

Furthermore, the meeting of the two ministers also discussed the currently warming global economic conditions. Airlangga and Paul Chan discussed the uncertainty of the global economy caused by the geopolitical situation which is a challenge for all countries.

In addition, Paul also praised the strong economic condition of Indonesia and the market that continues to grow amid all the difficulties that are hitting the world.

"Indonesia has a conducive business environment and a surplus of young people can be a major factor that will strengthen investment cooperation," he said.
