The Contents Of Apple's Innovation Center Are Only Training, Minister Of Industry Agus: Our Office Can Also Be
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) considers that for seven years Apple has only carried out educational and training activities or training through the Apple Developer Academy program.
"Apple Academy is only education and training, training from media friends, nothing more than that. And if in my view our office can also be collected like that, there is no need for Apple," said Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita quoted Thursday, January 9.
Agus assessed that this was not in accordance with the commitment of the third investment scheme or innovation scheme in the Minister of Industry Regulation (Permenperin) Number 29 of 2017.
The Permenperin regulates the Domestic Component Level (TKDN), which with an innovation scheme requires every manufacturer of mobile phones, Handheld Computers and Tablets (HKT) in Indonesia to carry out activities that include education, training, research and development in the field of information technology.
"From 2017 to 2024 they only carry out educational and training activities. In fact, it is clear in the provisions of Permenperin Number 29 of 2017, those who choose the innovation scheme must build R&D," said Agus.
Therefore, the Ministry of Industry has the basis for imposing sanctions, namely non-compliance from Apple, in order to implement commitments in the third investment scheme that is not in accordance with what has been determined by the Minister of Industry Number 29 of 2017.

Regarding sanctions for Apple cases, in the regulation of Permenperin 29 of 2017 Article 59 it was stated that the sanctions could be in the form of revocation of the TKDN value.
Meanwhile, special sanctions for the third scheme can be in the form of additional capital. This means that additional investment is in accordance with the agreement between the Government of Indonesia and Apple.
"We are looking for sanctions that can also be useful for us. The government can ask for additional investment in scheme 3, which is that our counter proposal figures have paid attention to so much," said Agus.
