Mastodon CEO Calls Meta's New Moderation Policy Very Disturbing

JAKARTA - Mastodon CEO, Eugen Rochko, said that the recent change in Meta's moderation policy was very disturbing and raised concerns.

"The change in moderation policies in Meta is very troubling and should be a concern for anyone with a conscience," said Rochko in his post on Mastodon, which TechCrunch managed to screenshot.

In addition, he also warned Threads users who made cross posts from Threads to Mastodon via the Fediverse feature that they would take action against hate speech or any Threads account that violates Mastodon's policies.

"While the Fediverse is a decentralized platform where different service providers have different moderation policies, in mastodon.social, hate speech is prohibited, and we will take action against any Threads account found to violate our policies," he stressed.

Rochko also urged anyone with Threads accounts to consider whether they still agree with the new policy direction or principle taken by Meta. If they don't feel in line, Rochko advises Threads users to switch to Mastodon.

Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has just announced the company's big move to restore their focus on freedom of expression on the Facebook, Instagram, and Threads platforms.

In a video, Zuck says it will change their fact checker system to Community Notes like X's, simplifying content policies related to sensitive issues, to restoring political content on its platform.
