KPK Explores Allegations Of Firli Bahuri Halangi Handling Hasto Kristiyanto's Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will investigate the alleged involvement of former KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri in an effort to obstruct the investigation into the interim replacement bribery (PAW) case of a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives who is now ensnaring the Secretary General of PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto.

This was conveyed by the Director of Investigation of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, in response to Ronald Paul Signal's statement, a former KPK investigator, on Wednesday, January 8. Ronald revealed that Firli Bahuri was suspected of obstructing the handling of the case while still serving as Chairman of the KPK.

"There is a former investigator who stated the involvement of the old leadership, will this be summoned by the person concerned? We are currently investigating this," Asep told reporters on Thursday, January 9.

As a further step, the KPK plans to summon investigators who previously handled this case, including those who are no longer on duty at the institution, to complete Hasto Kristiyanto's case file.

"We also ask for information from several investigators. From that statement, if there is anything that needs to be confirmed against anyone, we will do it," said Asep. Ronald Paul Signal, who handled this case until he was dismissed through the National Insight Test (TWK) in September 2021, said there were a number of obstacles in handling cases. One of the highlights was the direction of Firli Bahuri so that investigators did not search the PDIP DPP office in Menteng.

"It's always called not just, it's hot, and so on. I told you earlier that this can be categorized as an obstruction to the investigation," said Ronald.

The search was considered important by investigators to reveal evidence of Hasto's involvement. However, according to Ronald, the direction to withstand searches was a significant obstacle during Firli's leadership.

The bribery case for the management of the DPR RI PAW has ensnared a number of big names, including former KPU commissioners Wahyu Setiawan and Harun Masiku, who are still at large. Hasto Kristiyanto and Donny Tri Istiqomah, PDIP cadres as well as lawyers, have also been named suspects on suspicion of bribery.

In addition, Hasto is also suspected of being involved in the investigation, including asking Harun to destroy his cell phone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.
