The Government Notes SEZ Areas For Investment Up To IDR 82.6 Trillion In 2024

JAKARTA - The government noted that special economic zones (SEZs) have collected investments of up to IDR 82.6 trillion by absorbing 42,930 workers throughout 2024.

Cumulatively, from 2012 to 2024, the SEZ has recorded an investment achievement of IDR 256.7 trillion with an absorption of 156,208 workers and involved as many as 394 business actors.

"With this achievement, we, all officials and employees at the SEZ Denas Secretariat, including SEZ administrators, are challenged to further increase real contributions by supporting the development of SEZs in order to strengthen national economic growth which is estimated to reach 8 percent," said Acting Secretary General (Secretary General) of the National Council (Denas). ) SEZ Rizal Edwin Manansang in his statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, January 8.

In an effort to increase the optimization of SEZs as an important instrument in attracting investment and encouraging economic activities, Rizal inaugurated a number of administrator officials, supervisory officials, and functional officials within the Secretariat General of Denas SEZ, Tuesday, January 7.

The SEZ in Indonesia has experienced such rapid developments since it was originally established. Currently, there are 24 SEZs in various sectors, including manufacturing, digital economy, health, education, as well as activities in the form of maintenance, repair, and overhaul for aircraft.

The inauguration of 4 administrator officials, 3 supervisory officials, and 5 young professional functional officials was carried out based on the Decree of the Secretary General of the National Council for Special Economic Zones Number 1 of 2025 concerning Appointments in the Position of Administrator and Supervisor within the Secretary General of the National Council for Special Economic Zones and the Decree of the Secretary General of the National Council for Special Economic Zones Number 2 of 2025 concerning the Promotion of the Level of Functional Positions of Policy Analysts and Community Relations in the Secretary General of the National Council for Special Economic Zones.

Furthermore, Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Haryo Limanseto who was also present on the occasion also congratulated the inaugurated officials.

"Hopefully, with the inauguration of these new officials, it can be more complete to achieve the targets that have been set," he said.
