Meta Will Change Fact Checker System To Community Notes Similar To X
JAKARTA - Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the company's big move to restore their focus on freedom of expression on the Facebook, Instagram, and Threads platforms.
In a video uploaded, Zuck says that this step was taken because of the strict content moderation often results in errors and criticisms.
We built a lot of complex systems to moderate content. But the problem with complex systems is they make mistakes," he said.

To solve this problem, Meta will take five main steps. First, Meta will stop using fact-checkers who have been considered too political and replace them with systems of community notes like on platform X. The system will start in the United States and serve to provide context to the debated content.
The second step, Meta will simplify content policies related to sensitive issues. Then, Meta will also prioritize oversight of truly harmful content, such as terrorism and child exploitation, while reducing excessive moderation on other topics.
Fourth, after several years of limiting political content recommendations, Meta will again feature the content on its platform.
So far, people have seen less politics, and that has put people under pressure. So we're going to start taking this (political) content back to Facebook, Instagram and Threads while working to keep people positive," explained Zuck.

Finally, Zuck will also relocate a previously California-based Meta content moderation team and will be moved to Texas. This relocation aims to build public trust and reduce regional bias in decision making.
"I think it will help us build trust to do this work in a place where there is less attention about our team's usual," he concluded.
