Presiden Prabowo Forms Committee For Accelerating Digital Transformation To Improve Tax Compliance
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto immediately formed a Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee to increase tax payment compliance through tax system reforms.
This was conveyed by Member of the National Economic Council (DEN) Mari Elka Pangestu and Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini after the two attended a meeting chaired by President Prabowo at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 7.
"The president has agreed to immediately form a Digital Transformation Acceleration Committee to carry out three parts of digital, namely digital ID, both digital payment, and exchange data," said Mari Elka when giving a statement at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, quoted by Antara.
Mari Elka explained that to increase state revenue from taxes, the DEN emphasized the importance of increasing tax payment compliance with tax administration improvements and reducing tax evasion.
According to him, digitalization can improve tax administration and tax collection by linking it to digital ID to view taxpayer profiles, digital payments (digital payments), to data exchange (data exchange).
The Ministry of Finance has also taken strategic steps by launching a coretax administration system to serve tax administration digitally.
Through this system, taxpayers can register, report, and pay taxes electronically starting from a value added tax (VAT).
"Because the point is it's useless for us to raise the tax level if compliance doesn't happen. Therefore, compliance first and digital transformation through the importance of digital ID, digital payment and data exchange," said Mari Elka.
