BMKG: 20 Regions In Indonesia Potentially Raining On January 7

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that 20 regions in Indonesia will be hit by light rain on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

BMKG forecaster, Eriska Febriati, in a weather forecast broadcast broadcast via the BMKG YouTube channel, said that areas that are expected to experience light rain include Tanjung Pinang (Riau Islands), Pekanbaru (Riau), Pangkal Pinang (Bangka Belitung), Palembang (South Sumatra), Jakarta, Semarang (Central Java), and Surabaya (East Java).

"Light rain also has the potential to occur in Denpasar (Bali), Pontianak (West Kalimantan), Samarinda (East Kalimantan), Palangkaraya (Central Kalimantan), Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan), and Manado (North Sulawesi)," said Eriska on Tuesday morning.

Other areas that are predicted to experience light rain are Palu (Central Sulawesi), Kendari (Southeast Sulawesi), Makassar (South Sulawesi), Ternate (North Maluku), Manokwari (West Papua), Jayapura (Papua), and Jayawijaya (Papua Mountains).

In addition, BMKG also predicts moderate-intensity rain has the potential to occur in a number of areas, such as Medan (North Sumatra), Serang (Banten), Bandung (West Java), Mataram (West Nusa Tenggara), Kupang (East Nusa Tenggara), Sorong (West West Papua), Nabire (Central Papua), and Merauke (South Papua).

"Rain accompanied by lightning or lightning is predicted to hit the areas of Padang (West Sumatra), Jambi, Bengkulu, Bandar Lampung, Yogyakarta, Tanjung Selor (North Kalimantan), and Mamuju (West Sulawesi)," he added.

Meanwhile, three areas are estimated to be cloudy to thick cloudy, namely Aceh, Gorontalo, and Ambon.
