MIND ID Gelontorkan Rp20.6 Trillion For Five Strategic Projects
JAKARTA - BUMN Mining Industry Holding Indonesia MIND ID has prepared an investment allocation of IDR 20.6 trillion in five strategic projects that will drive the wheels of economic growth both in the region and nationally.
2025 is a year full of optimism. We are optimistic that we can accelerate the downstreaming of the mining industry in Indonesia and make a significant contribution to sustainable economic growth towards Indonesia Gold 2045," said MIND ID Corporate Secretary, Heri Yusuf, quoted Monday, January 6.
Heri explained that the projects include, first, the MIND ID Group will complete the construction of the Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) in Mempawah, West Kalimantan. This smelter is targeted to ramp-up production in the first quarter of 2025 and will produce one million tons of alumina per year.
Second, MIND ID through PT Inalum plans to build a new aluminum smelter in Kuala Tanjung.
With a production capacity of 600,000 tons of aluminum per year, the project is expected to strengthen the supply chain of the national aluminum industry.
Third, the MIND ID Group will continue to develop nickel projects in East Halmahera which are one of the priorities. This project includes the construction of the Rotary Kiln-Electric Furnace (RKEF) smelter to produce nickel as well as the High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) facility for electric vehicle battery raw materials. The production capacity of the RKEF will be increased to 88,000 tons of nickel, while the HPAL is targeted to reach 55,000 tons of Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP).
Fourth, MIND ID Group continues the construction of copper smelters and Precious Metal Refinery (PMR) in Gresik, East Java.
The project is planned to start operating and ramp-up production by the end of the third quarter of 2025.
Fifth, the coal infrastructure development project in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra.

MIND ID through PT Bukit Asam is in the middle of establishing a strategic partnership with PT Kereta Api Indonesia and utilizing river routes to increase the efficiency of coal transportation from mining sites with a capacity of 20 million tons per year.
