Sri Mulyani: 2024 State Budget Deficit Reaches IDR 507.8 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) noted that the 2024 State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) has a deficit of IDR 507.8 trillion.

Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said the 2024 State Budget deficit was IDR 507.8 trillion or 2.29 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This realization is equivalent to 97.1 percent of the 2024 State Budget target of IDR 522.8 trillion.

"We see that the deficit at IDR 507.8 trillion is very impressive because it is not only lower than the lapsem (temporary report) which we predict will worsen, the difference is more than IDR 100 trillion itself, which is lower than the deficit outlook but lower than the initial APBN which was IDR 522.8 trillion," he said at the KiTa State Budget press conference, on Monday, January 6.

Overall, the 2024 State Budget is designed to deficit IDR 522.8 trillion or 2.29 percent of GDP. This means that the deficit that occurs until the end of 2024 is still within the government's target range.

According to Sri Mulyani, the 2024 State Budget deficit is due to lower state revenues compared to increasing state spending.

Sri Mulyani explained that the realization of state revenue in 2024 reached Rp2,842.5 trillion, an increase of 2.1 percent on an annual basis or year on year (yoy) when compared to the same period last year. This realization is equivalent to 101.4 percent of the 2024 APBN target of Rp2,802.3 trillion.

Meanwhile, the realization of state spending in 2024 reached IDR 3,350.3 trillion, an increase of 7.3 percent (YoY) compared to the same period last year. This realization is equivalent to 100.8 percent of the 2024 APBN target of IDR 3,325.1 trillion.

Sri Mulyani said that the primary balance recorded a deficit in 2024 of Rp. 19.7 trillion. So that the Remaining Budget Calculation (SILPA) recorded Rp45.4 trillion.
