Canceled Attendance, KPK Reschedules Hasto Kristiyanto's Summons As A Suspect

JAKARTA The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed the absence of the Secretary-General of the PDI-P (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto, at the summons Monday, January 6. The KPK plans to reschedule Hasto's examination regarding the alleged interim replacement bribery (PAW) and obstruction of investigations in a case that also involves fugitive Harun Masiku.

"Brother HK sent a notification letter because there were activities that could not be abandoned," said KPK spokesman, Tessa Mahardhika, Monday, December 6.

The KPK has yet to determine the exact date for Hasto's recall, which will be adjusted to the investigator's agenda.

The chairman of the PDIP DPP for Legal Reform, Ronny B. Talapesy, also announced his absence. "Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has not been able to fulfill the summons today because there is a series of PDIP Anniversary activities that have been scheduled previously," explained Ronny.

He asked the KPK to reschedule Hasto's examination after the PDIP Anniversary commemoration on January 10.

Hasto Kristiyanto has been named a suspect by the KPK together with Donny Tri Istiqomah, PDIP cadres and lawyers, regarding the alleged bribery of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR RI. Both are suspected of bribing former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan to smooth out Harun Masiku's steps to become a member of the council.

In addition, Hasto was also charged as a suspect in the investigation. He allegedly asked Harun Masiku to damage his cellphone and run away after the arrest operation (OTT) was carried out.

Although not yet detained, the KPK has prevented Hasto and Donny from leaving the country for six months. A similar prohibition was also imposed on the former Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham), Yasonna H. Laoly, who was also mentioned in this case.
