Maintaining Diet, Jennifer Aniston Implements 80/20 Diet at Age 55
JAKARTA - Artist Jennifer Aniston is known for implementing a balanced healthy lifestyle. In an interview with Today, the 55-year-old woman shared about her exercise routine and diet.
"I apply the 80/20 rule. I give myself days where I can eat whatever I want. I never feel like I have to hold myself back," said Aniston, quoted by VOI from the Business Insider page on Monday, January 6.
The 80/20 diet rule that Aniston follows involves consuming 80% of healthy foods. While the remaining 20% is used to be more flexible in choosing foods.
For 80% of her time, Aniston focuses on nutritious foods such as protein, salads, and drinks lots of water. She also avoids using excessive salt or salad dressing and prefers natural ingredients, such as vinegar to give her food flavor.
"Ingredients like that can create a delicious taste without having to add excessive salt, butter, or olive oil," she explained.
Despite her strict diet, Aniston still makes room to enjoy her favorite foods. "For 20% of the time, I'll eat a cheeseburger and fries, Mexican food, pasta, or pizza, all savory foods," she said.
In addition to maintaining a diet, Aniston also exercises three to four times a week. She believes that a combination of a balanced diet and physical activity is the main key to maintaining her body's health.
Aniston is not the only celebrity who practices this diet rule. Former NFL player, Tom Brady, also follows a variation of the 80/20 rule by filling 80% of his plate with plant-based foods and the remaining 20% with lean protein.
According to nutritionist Nichola Ludlam-Raine, the 80/20 rule makes it easier for someone to stay consistent with a healthy diet. This pattern avoids overly restrictive eating patterns, which can often lead to obsession or overeating.

"There is no such thing as a completely 'good' or 'bad' food. A healthy diet also involves portion sizes and the frequency of consumption of certain foods," said Ludlam-Raine.
She added that enjoying favorite foods in small amounts is part of a healthy diet. "I eat chocolate every day, just not in large sizes," she said.
Aniston's 80/20 diet approach shows that staying healthy doesn't have to mean sacrificing the pleasures of life. With a flexible yet focused diet, Aniston has managed to maintain a balanced and inspiring lifestyle.
