Aceh Police Pick Up Children Victims Of TIP In Malaysia, Viral Cases On Social Media
BANDA ACEH Aceh Regional Police (Polda) Sub-Directorate for Youth, Children and Women (Renakta) has picked up a 14-year-old child from West Aceh who is suspected of being a victim of a criminal act of trafficking in persons (TPPO) in Malaysia.
"The victim was picked up at the Embassy Office of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia," said Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Aceh Police, Kombes Pol Ade Harianto, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, January 6.
The victim's pick-up was carried out on Friday with the support of the Banda Aceh Police Women and Children Protection Unit personnel. The victim was then flown to Aceh and arrived at Sultan Iskandar Muda Airport, Aceh Besar, on Saturday.
According to Kombes Pol Ade Harianto, his party immediately asked for information from the victim for the purpose of investigating the alleged TIP case. "This pick-up was carried out to support the investigation process. Investigators will also coordinate with the Aceh Province Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office," he added.
This case had gone viral on social media, which helped encourage quick efforts from various parties in dealing with victims and processing the perpetrators involved.
Ade Harianto reminded the public, especially parents, to be more aware of the potential for trafficking in people who often offer jobs with the lure of large salaries abroad.

He also appreciated the support from the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia and various parties involved in assisting the victim pick-up process. "Thank you for the cooperation of all parties, both in Malaysia and in Aceh, who also provide information and support the smooth running of this process," concluded Ade Harianto.
