The US Pretext Of Chinese Integrity Technology Involved In Cyber Attack Flax Typhoon
JAKARTA - The United States on Friday January 3 imposed sanctions on the Integrity Technology Group, a Beijing-based company, on charges of masterminding the hacker group "Flax Typhoon".
In a statement, the US State Department stated that Integrity Tech is a major Chinese government contractor who has close ties to the Ministry of State Security. Its hackers are suspected of working under Beijing's direction to target critical infrastructure in the US and abroad.
In September, FBI Director Christopher Wray accused the company of "collecting intelligence and conducting reconnaissance for Chinese government security agencies."
In addition, a joint statement released by cyber officials from the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand accused Integrity Tech of compromising more than 250,000 devices worldwide.

On the other hand, the Chinese government denies the allegations and accuses the US and its allies of "jumping at baseless conclusions and making allegations without evidence against China" linked to Integrity and Flax Typhoon.
Flax Typhoon is one of several groups of Chinese hackers who have been in the spotlight in recent months for targeting sensitive data and critical infrastructure. Other groups, such as "Volt Typhoon" and "Salt Typhoon," are also suspected of being involved in similar actions, including infiltrating telecommunications companies in the US.
Last week, US Treasury officials reported that an unnamed Chinese hacker group had hacked their computers, including breaking into data from the Department's sanctions office, as reported by The Washington Post.
