Two Plans For Anthony Joshua's Fight In 2025

JAKARTA Former world heavyweight champion twice from England, Anthony Joshua (AJ), is likely to undergo two fights in this year's calendar.

Renowned promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that Joshua is targeted to return to play at the start of the summer if he can train fully this month.

"In May or June 2025. He hasn't fully practiced yet. He may be ready to resume training in January 2025," Hearn said as reported by The Sun.

The boxer from Watford has not fought again since suffering a crushing defeat against his compatriot Daniel Dubois in September 2024.

He was originally set up for a rematch against Dubois next month, but it didn't happen because it wasn't fit. Dubois will eventually fight Joseph Parker from New Zealand to keep his IBF belt.

In addition to the possibility of a rematch with Dubois after that, Joshua is also targeted to have a duel against his other compatriot, Tyson Fury. This will be the biggest clash in British heavyweight history in the event.

Hearn, who served as boss at Matchroom Boxing, admitted that he really wanted Joshua's duel against Fury. However, he refused to make hasty decisions.

"Currently you have a Dubois vs Parker fight on February 22, 2025. You also have to see what Fury wants to do."

"We are not in a hurry, but AJ will fight twice in 2025," he said.

Fury made sure he did not retire after suffering defeat in a rematch against Ukraine champion Oleksandr Usyk, in December 2024.

Thus, the boxer nicknamed The Gypsy King may be willing to accept the clash with Joshua. Their duel will determine who is the best in England.

Joshua's duel against Dubois is also open. However, Dubois seems to be eyeing a fight against Usyk for world champions if he wins against Parker.
