Police Propam Will Return DWP Extortion Money Worth IDR 2.5 Billion To Victims

JAKARTA - The National Police's Professional and Security Division (Propam) plans to return the proceeds of the crime in the 2024 Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) extortion case to victims with a total of IDR 2.5 billion.

The money was obtained by asking for compensation or conditions from the victims who had been secured, as a requirement for their release or release.

"The evidence that we managed to secure, we confiscated Rp2.5 billion and will later be returned to those who are entitled," said Karowabprof Divpropam Polri, Brigadier General Agus Wijayanto, quoted Friday, January 3.

Regarding the return mechanism, Propam is currently conducting a data collection process to ensure that the recipient is the victim of the extortion.

"This is in the context of data collection carried out by the Propam Division, both the Paminal Bureau we meet, and later there will be a process there for evidence of Rp. 2.5 billion," said Agus.

The Head of the Propam Police Division, Inspector General Abdul Karim, previously revealed that 18 policemen were involved in the extortion. They have been placed in the Propam Division of the National Police Headquarters for further handling.

"A total of 18 people have now been placed in special placements at the Propam Headquarters Div," said Abdul Karim.

The extortion action targeted 45 foreign nationals (WNA) from Malaysia and a number of Indonesian citizens. Based on the findings of the National Police Propam, the total money extorted by dozens of police officers reached Rp. 2.5 billion.

"The evidence that we have secured is Rp. 2.5 billion. So we need to straighten out the news which previously mentioned a bigger number," explained Abdul Karim.

Meanwhile, based on the official statement of the National Police, three police officers have been sentenced to dishonorable dismissal or dismissal (PTDH) in this case. They are Kombes Donald Parlaungan Simanjuntak, AKP Yudhy Trianta Syaeful, and AKBP Malvino Edward Yusticia. However, the three of them appealed the decision.
