BPOLBF Ensures Komodo National Park Is Safe For Year-End Tourism

Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, remains a safe tourist destination during the year-end holiday period. The Labuan Bajo Flores Authority (BPOLBF) Implementing Agency, as a technical implementing unit under the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, has ensured the security of Komodo National Park through various anticipatory measures.

In an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday, BPOLBF stated that they had coordinated with the Komodo National Park Center (BTNK), Harbormaster and Port Authority, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), as well as various other related parties. This step is taken to ensure tourists can enjoy the holidays safely and comfortably even though they are in the rainy season.

"This cross-trade stakeholder coordination is our commitment to support the smooth running of tourism activities in Labuan Bajo during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays," said BPOLBF President Director, Frans Teguh.

In addition, BPOLBF also provides information about tourism safety to visitors, especially in water tourism areas. Tourists are advised to comply with all the rules set by the destination manager.

Frans emphasized that although it is currently the rainy season, the weather conditions in Labuan Bajo are still relatively safe and support tourism activities.

The head of the Komodo National Park Office, Hendrikus Rani Siga, also confirmed that the national park area is currently in a safe condition to visit. However, he reminded tourists to always pay attention to the weather forecasts issued by the BMKG and follow the applicable safety rules, especially in water areas.

"If the weather is bad, we strongly recommend that tourists not force themselves into the Komodo National Park area to maintain safety," said Hendrikus.

In supporting safe tourism activities during the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 holidays, the Minister of Tourism has issued a circular regarding the implementation of safe, comfortable, and fun tourism activities.

In addition, the West Manggarai Regency Transportation Service has built security posts at several strategic points as part of efforts to support tourist security. Officers from various related agencies will work every day, from morning to evening, to ensure the smooth and security of tourism activities in the area.
