Baznas Explains The 2025 National Zakat Management Strategy
JAKARTA - As an institution that conducts national zakat management, the Indonesian National Amil Zakat Agency (Baznas) has conveyed the policy direction for national zakat management for 2025.
"By 2025, it is a momentum to strengthen synergies in the management of national zakat, both at the central and regional levels. Digital innovation and cross-sectoral collaboration will be a top priority," said Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Baznas Mokhamad Mahdum, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, December 28.
To carry out this, Mahdum emphasized the importance of innovation and collaboration to achieve the target of managing zakat in the coming year.
He revealed that the performance of collecting and distributing zakat, infaq, alms, and other religious social funds (ZIS-DSKL) nationally has a positive trend, where zakat collection in 2023 will reach IDR 32.32 trillion with a projected collection of 2024 according to a target of IDR 41 trillion.
The highest collection growth will occur in 2022 at 59.2 percent year on year (yoy), while in 2024 it is projected to reach 26.86 percent yoy.
"The distribution of ZIS DSKL in 2023 will reach Rp31.20 trillion with a projected distribution of 2024 of Rp38.95 trillion, distribution growth during 2018-2024 fluctuating. In 2022 and 2023 it will be the year with the highest distribution growth yoy," he explained, who is also an economist.
Furthermore, Mahdum highlighted the importance of increasing public confidence in zakat institutions.
"Transparency and accountability must be the main basis in zakat management. With high trust, community participation in zakat will increase significantly," he said.

Therefore, the policy of managing zakat in 2025 will be focused on empowering the people's economy.
"Zakat collection must be oriented towards programs that can promote mustahic welfare in a sustainable manner. Zakat-based economic empowerment programs will be the main focus of Baznas," he explained.
In addition, he said that his party would strengthen data integration and digital technology to support the process of collecting and distributing zakat.
"We will maximize the use of technology to accelerate the process of managing zakat which is more transparent, efficient, and easily accessible to the public," said Mokhamad Mahdum.
