The SAR Team For The Evacuation Of Passengers Of The Engine Dead Ship In Wakatobi

The rescue team from the Wakatobi SAR Post evacuated three men whose ships had engine failures around the waters of Wanci, Wakatobi Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra).

Head of Basarnas Kendari Aminuddin PS, said that the three men were La Bentulu (39), Rajitman (52), and Arsudin (42), residents of Kaledupa, Wakatobi Regency.

"We received information from Rajitman who reported the GT 8 ship with three passengers experiencing engine failure at 07.25 WITA," Aminuddin said, quoted from Antara, Saturday, December 28.

Based on the report, his party then dispatched a team to the location informed by using a rubber boat to provide SAR assistance.

"The distance to the location is about 17.32 nautical miles," he said.

Aminuddin revealed that the joint SAR team managed to find the victim's ship about 2.33 nautical miles east of the reported location.

"Furthermore, the three were immediately evacuated to Marina port, Wanci, and arrived at 11.10 WITA," he said.

He said that with the evacuation of the three people safe, the SAR operation was declared complete and closed.

"All elements involved in the operation are returned to their respective units," he said.

Aminuddin explained that the incident began when three people with gas cylinders departed from Lasalimu to Kaledupa on Friday (27/12) at around 16.30 WITA.

"At around 19.99 WITA, the ship experienced engine failure and needed help," he said.
