Dani Olmo's Registration At Barcelona Was Rejected By The Court
JAKARTA - Barcelona are at risk of losing Dani Olmo in the second half of the season after the court rejected the club's lawsuit to extend the forward's registration until after December 31, 2024.
Olmo, a player recruited in the summer worth 57 million euros from RB Leipzig, was given temporary registration by La Liga until the end of the year to cover Andreas Christensen's long-term injury.
Barcelona is seeking a court order to extend the couple's registration until the end of the season, citing a hearing on Monday, December 23, 2024, that a failure to do so would violate workers' rights in Spain.
The Catalan club has filed a similar case to register midfielder Gavi with the first team in 2023.
On that occasion they won. So, there were several surprises that the verdict on Friday, December 27, 2024, did not side with them.
La Liga on Friday issued a statement saying they welcomed the court's decision.

"La Liga today is aware of the decision, rejecting Dani Olmo's temporary registration request until June 30, 2025."
"The reason is, there is not a single requirement needed for the implementation of temporary action that has been fulfilled," reads La Liga's official statement.
The annual expenditure limit imposed by La Liga for Barcelona is set at 426 million euros this season.
They still violate these limits and as a consequence face certain restrictions in terms of registering new players.
La Liga regulations only allow them to spend part of whatever they get from transfer fees or savings in the form of salaries.
While they can also create more space in that limit by increasing revenue.
Approval from members of a new multi-year deal with suppliers of Nike equipment last week helped in that regard.
However, sources told ESPN that it would not be enough to encourage Olmo's registration.
The registration will expire next week. With Barcelona still exceeding the annual spending limits set by the league, they are now working on two possible scenarios to extend it.
First, involving pre-sales of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou, which is being rebuilt.
Second, members of the Barcelona Council provide personal guarantees to allow registration, a route previously taken to ensure the registration of Jules Kounde in 2022 as well as Joao Félix and Joao Cancelo in 2023.
Pau Victor striker, who was recruited from Girona July 2024, is also in the same position as Olmo.
Mundo Deportivo had previously reported that if registration was not processed, Olmo could leave for free, although sources close to the club and the player had narrowed that possibility.
Meanwhile, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed confidence that Olmo and Victor's registration will be extended. However, the club now has to race against time to make sure that happens.
Laporta telah mengatakan bahwa selain jalur pengadilan, Barcelona juga tengah berupaya cara lain untuk memperpanjang pendaftaran hingga melewati 31 Desember 2024.
