National Monument Remains The Choice Of 2024 Christmas Holiday Tourism

JAKARTA - The National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta remains a favorite destination for visitors of various ages during the 2024 Christmas holiday. On Thursday, this area is crowded with tourists who want to enjoy the recreation atmosphere as well as education.

Kinta (50), a Tangerang resident who regularly takes his family to Monas, revealed that the location is very suitable for family tourism. Apart from being widespread, Monas offers various interesting activities that also have educational value.

"The children really enjoy it. The place is spacious, so we can picnic and title a mat at Monas yard. The cost is also affordable. At night, there is a video mapping that makes the children even more happy," he said.

He also appreciated the policy of prohibiting street vendors in the Monas area which made the area more organized and comfortable for children to play.

"Now it's neater because traders are not allowed to enter. The location is only for playing, so it doesn't feel crowded or messy," he added.

Meanwhile, Mursa (33), one of the visitors, highlighted the educational side offered by Monas, especially through the diorama museum at the bottom of Monas.

"The diorama is good, and the explanation is quite simple to understand, especially by children. The combination of recreation and education here is really interesting," he said. However, he suggested that the lighting in the museum be improved in order to increase the comfort of visitors.

For the younger generation, Monas also still has its own charm. Luthfia (20), a student from Malang, said that Monas is still relevant as a tourist destination.

Until now Monas remains an interesting place. At night there are video mapping and very cool fountains. This is a great innovation to attract more visitors," he said.

As part of the 2024 Christmas celebration, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government held a Christmas event at Monas which took place on December 25-27, 2024. Visitors can enjoy various activities such as Christmas Kidung, dance fountain performances, and spectacular video mapping in the Monas area.

This event is open to the public free of charge, so it is the ideal choice to celebrate Christmas with family.

The Monas Regional Management Unit (UPK) also enlivened the year-end holidays by presenting video mapping, fountain performances, and entertainment stages.

On December 25-27, 2024, video mapping will be shown at South Silang Monas, while the dancing fountain will take place on the west side of Monas. This 15-20 minute show carries the Christmas theme.

For the New Year celebration on December 31, 2024, the theme will focus on welcoming the five centuries of the City of Jakarta. In addition, the fountain and park lighting at Monas will be held from December 28 to 31, 2024.

The entertainment stage located in South Silang Monas will also be held on New Year's Eve, along with video tapping performances and dancing fountains.
