Ministry Of Culture Appreciates Musicians And Indonesian Singers In The 60s Era

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia paid tribute to Indonesian musicians and singers in the 1960s, through a small performance held at Building A of the Ministry of Culture, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, December 24.

Those who attended and appeared on stage were Ernie Djohan, Titiek Sandhora, Muchsin Alatas, Titiek Hamzah, and Neno Warisman.

The Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, in his remarks said that this event was held to give appreciation to those who have made a big contribution to Indonesia's cultural progress.

"We want a platform for cultural fighters, if possible, no one is left behind. Of course, musicians in the '60s who are now very senior, need to be appreciated. They had stars at that time," said Fadli Zon.

Kita berharap ini hanya awal, sebagai silaturahmi. Ke depan kita mau menyelenggarakan suatu tribute untuk musisi tahun 60-an yang lain, tentunya nanti ada Titiek Puspa, Achmad Albar, dan yang lainnya. Kemudian ada juga yang dari tahun 70, 80, 90-an, sambungnya.

For Fadli, artists need to get more appreciation, considering his role which has also made Indonesia proud in the world arena.

"So, we hope that there is a platform from the Ministry of Culture to appreciate our artists who have made Indonesia proud to the world stage. This is very important, to see our national wealth," he said.

Meanwhile, the musician and singer who became Indonesia's popular music icon in the 1960s performed his best songs.

Ernie Djohan in her appearance performed You Are Always In My Heart', while the duo Muchsin Alatas and Titiek Sandhora brought 'Your Heart' and The World Is Not Dead'.
