Radja Admits APT. Song Inspired New Single Apa Sih
JAKARTA - Radja's latest single titled "Apa Sih" has become a topic of conversation on social media. The reason is, the hook of the song is considered very similar to "APT." a hit by Rosé and Bruno Mars.
Moldyansyah Mulyadi aka Moldy (guitar) as a songwriter and producer did not deny that "APT." was his inspiration when working on "Apa Sih".
"Inspired? Honestly, I was inspired by what was popular in 2024. Well, that's why it had something to do with Mas Bruno," said Moldy to the media crew in Mampang, South Jakarta on Monday, December 23.
The 51-year-old guitarist does not see any problem in taking inspiration from others, especially if the inspiration is something good.
"I said, 'What's wrong with us imitating something good?' We're not imitating something bad," said Moldy.
"Besides, the basics of life are also imitating, right? So never forget," added Ian Kasela (vocals).
Furthermore, Moldy sees it as very natural for someone to take an example from someone else they see. This has been done by everyone since birth.
"In music, I say, we get influence and inspiration, yes it's okay. The important thing is that we don't take other people's rights, the point is. So we create ourselves, get inspiration, yes, process it with our style," he said.

Regarding the similarity of the mention of "APT." with "Apa Sih", Moldy also does not see any problem. What Radja wants to convey in this latest single is what he sees has become a habit for many people today.
"From the lyrics, it's very social. I said 'What Is It' because nowadays it's an era of curiosity, people want to know, want to find something for reasons that blah blah blah," he said.
"Well, in the end, the words 'What Is It' are often heard in the ears. In my opinion, like the name Radja itself, it's often mentioned. Besides, there's nothing wrong and there's no copyright in taking that title or name," concluded Moldy.
