BMW M8 Coupe Says Goodbye Early 2025, Convertible And Gran Coupe Hold On
JAKARTA - Unpleasant news came for BMW car fans. The reason is, the German manufacturer confirmed that they will stop production from M8 Coupe starting early next year.
As BMW Blog reports, Tuesday, December 24, the manufacturer confirmed the luxury grand-tourer will not receive an update for the 2026 model and they have stopped receiving orders for the model.
As of December 20, units currently with production status of 105 or 047 will still be processed within one to two weeks. After that, the model will be retired from the BMW car lineup. Not only that, this two-door-style grand-tourer will also be removed from the BMW website and the Build Your Won (BYO) configurator starting January 2025.
With the removal of the Coupe version, this leaves the M8 model in the Convertible and Gran Coupe versions on the market.
The departure of M8 Coupe also created uncertainty regarding the future of the Series-8 model. Initially, rumors stated that a new generation of BMW Series 8 and M8 were scheduled to attend in 2026. However, other news shows that the final decision regarding its development has not yet been decided.
If the manufacturer gives the green light, it is possible that the latest generation from Series-8 or M8 will not attend before 2029-2030 or exactly ten years from the current generation introduced.
Another speculation mentions that BMW will only retain Series-8 and M8 in future versions of Gran Coupe. Both are planned to offer pure combustion engine (ICE) and electric options which are also in line with BMW's strategy of synergizing conventional drivers with pure electricity.
Currently, the BMW M8 is powered by a 4.4 liter V8 twin-turbo engine that is the hallmark of the BMW M by producing 617 dk of power on the trim Competition. This is paired with an all-wheel drive (AWD) xDrive self-developed by this brand.
With this machine, this allows it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hour in just 2.7 seconds.
