BP Tapera Followed As Housing Investment Agency, Commissioner: Needs Discussion Again

Commissioner of the Public Housing Savings Management Agency (BP Tapera) Heru Pudyo Nugroho opened his voice regarding a proposal from the Housing Task Force to turn into a Housing Investment Agency.

According to Heru, the proposal still requires further discussion. This is so that these changes can accommodate greater housing financing, especially for low-income people (MBR).

"I think that, right, we respect the discussion with the (residential) Task Force. Right, it's in the framework of breakthrough, so that Tapera is better in the future as a cheap and long-term liquidity provider," said Heru when met at the Ministry of Public Works Auditorium, Jakarta, Monday, December 23.

Heru admitted that the proposed amendment to BP Tapera to the Housing Investment Agency will be discussed further with the formation of the new BP Tapera Committee.

Through the formation of the new Tapera Committee, Heru said, he had proposed the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait as chairman of the committee of the housing savings management institution.

"But, it needs more discussion. The actualization under the coordination of the Minister (PKP) will be the chairman of our committee in the future. We are still waiting for the Presidential Decree (the appointment of the BP Tapera Committee)," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of PKP had proposed changes to members of the BP Tapera Committee. This is related to changes from President Joko Widodo's Advanced Indonesia Cabinet 2019-2024 to President Prabowo Subianto's Red and White Cabinet.

The Director General of Housing at the Ministry of PKP, Iwan Suprijanto, said that until now, members of the BP Tapera Committee are still written as Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, who currently serves as Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (IKN).

"The Minister of PKP wrote to the President at the request of the Commissioner of BP Tapera for the change of the committee in connection with changes to the cabinet," said Iwan in a written statement, Wednesday, November 27.
