Foreign Minister Sa'ar Calls Donald Trump's Return To White House Offers 'Big Opportunities' For Israel

JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said next year there would be challenges for Israel, but also mentioned a great opportunity with Donald Trump's return to the White House.

This was conveyed by Foreign Minister Sa'ar when speaking to the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee (Israeli Parliament).

"Next year, 2025, will also be a challenging year," he said, launching The Times of Israel December 23.

"But also a year with great opportunities, with a new government (United States) led by President-elect Donald Trump," he continued.

Foreign Minister Sa'ar noted, "this does not mean that there will be an agreement on everything and there will be no more debate, but this of course gives room for optimism."

Foreign Minister Sa'ar added that the Association Board meeting with the EU, which is the second meeting since 2012, will take place in Brussels, Belgium in the next two months.

"We certainly hope to open a new page of constructive dialogue with the European Union," he said.

It is known that Donald Trump, who is from the Republican Party, will be sworn in as President of the United States on January 20, after beating his rival Vice President Kamala Harris of the Democratic Party in the November 5 presidential election.

This will be Trump's second term, after he previously served as US President from 2017 to 2021.
