Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Receives Invitation To Attend Christmas Eve Mass In Bethlehem
JAKARTA - Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received an invitation to attend the Christmas Eve Mass and Midnight Mass in Bethlehem, which was celebrated according to the Julian Calendar.
A number of orthodox Christian leaders visited the President at his head office in Ramallah on Sunday to directly submit an invitation to him.
President Abbas congratulated Palestinians celebrating Christmas according to the Eastern calendar, as well as to all members of the Christian community who carry out Eastern traditions, quoted from WAFA December 23.
The President expressed hope that the holiday would come with the end of Israeli aggression and Palestinian bloodshed, so that Muslims could celebrate the holy day with love, security and peace.
On this occasion, President Abbas called for Christmas celebrations to be carried out solemnly and simply, given the difficult conditions experienced by the Palestinian people.
It is known that Palestinian Christians who take part in the Western calendar will celebrate Christmas on December 25, while those participating in the Eastern calendar celebrate Christmas on January 7, as reported by Antara.
