Mariah Carey And Brenda Lee 'Fight' To Become Christmas Queens This Year
JAKARTA - It has become a tradition, when before the Christmas celebration, the once-released Christmas-themed songs will be heard again, and even appear again on the popular charts.
Some of the Christmas-themed songs that came back to the Billboard Hot 100 charts, namely Bobby Helms' "Jingle Bell Rock" (#3), "Last Christmas" from Wham! (#4), and "A Holly Jolly Christmas" from Burl Ives (#5).
However, two very striking songs, competing to get the top spot at the Hot 100 are Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" (#1) and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" from Brenda Lee (#2).
Billboard said Mariah Carey and Brenda Lee, as the Queen of Christmas this year, had been predicted to get the top rank as of December 23.
Meanwhile, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" was released in 1958, when Brenda Lee was 14 years old. This song first entered the Hot 100 charts on December 12, 1960. Then back in 2013, 2014, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Meanwhile, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" which appeared on the debut Christmas album Carey, Merry Christmas (1994) first entered the Billboard charts in 1994, but did not make it to the top 10 in Hot 100 to December 2017.
The iconic song finally reached the top of the Hot 100 position in 2019, and has completely dominated every holiday season since then.
In 2023, Lee and Carey even shared the top spot, with "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" lasting three weeks, while "All I Want for Christmas Is You" for two weeks.
