The Bridge In Barru Collapsed By Floods, A 10-year-old Boy Was Killed By The Current
BARRU A bridge in the Pude neighborhood, Takkalasi District, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi, collapsed due to a large flood that hit the area. This incident caused road access to be cut off, forcing local residents to be evacuated to avoid potential aftershocks.
Head of the Prevention and Preparedness Division of the Barru BPBD, Abdul Muhaemin Hasan, revealed that the collapsed bridge was actually in the process of being rebuilt. However, the swift current of the flood destroyed the bridge structure.
"The heavy current caused the bridge that was being rebuilt in Pude to be washed away and collapsed," said Muhaemin, Monday, December 23.
In addition to damaging infrastructure, this flood also claimed the life of Rahmatullah, a 10-year-old boy who was swept away by the current while playing in an irrigation canal in Libureng Village, Tanete Riaja District.
In Pacciro Village, Ballusu District, a dramatic situation occurs when a resident uses a mitigation box to save his flooded baby.
With the help of the sarong that was used as a rope, the resident crossed the baby to a safe place in a house on stilts.
