Shooting Officials Dead One KKB DPO In Bintuni West Papua

Joint TNI-Polri personnel shot dead a wanted list (DPO) who is a member of an armed criminal group (KKB) in West Moskona District, Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua.

"One DPO KKB who was shot dead in Meyah Lama Village, West Moskona District, named Marthen Aikinggin," said Head of Public Relations of the West Papua Police, Senior Commissioner Ongky Isgunawan in Manokwari, Sunday, December 22, as reported by Antara.

He explained that the shift of TNI-Polri troops to pursue and arrest the KKB DPO began on December 15, 2024, with the starting point from Argosigemerai Village SP 5, Bintuni Bay.

Troops then moved to Kali Biru on December 16, 2024 on foot past Mount Meyerga, and on December 17, 2024, a joint TNI-Polri team conducted a sweep to the Cempedak River.

"18 December 2024 at 06.30 WIT, the team monitored Meyah Lama Village, precisely around the KKB post led by Marthen Aikinggin," said Ongky.

After that, he said, the joint team moved closer to Marthen Aikinggin's hiding location, and on the way to the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Bintuni Bay Police, IPTU Tomi Samuel Marbun, slipped and was swept away by the current of the Rawara River.

The joint team had stopped to search for IPTU Tomi but had not succeeded, some teams continued their journey through Kali Rawa to Sagu Hamlet, Meyah Lama Village.

"At 08.00 WIT there was a shootout that resulted in Marthen Aikinggin's death. His body was evacuated, and at 20.00 WIT the team rejoined Kali Rawara," said Ongky.

He said Marthen Aikinggin was the Commander of the Moskona KKB Battalion as well as the perpetrator of the murder of four civilians working on the Trans Bintuni-Maybrat road, precisely in the Majnic Village Area, West Moskona District, on September 29, 2022.

The evidence that was secured from the location of the gun battle between the TNI-Polri Joint team and the KKB led by Marthen Aikinggin included one laptop, one cellphone, and a number of sharp weapons.

"Marthen Aikinggin was one of the perpetrators who killed four Trans Bintuni-Maybrat road workers in 2022," he said.

Ongky also said that the Head of the Bintuni Bay Police, AKBP Choiruddin Wachid, together with joint TNI-Polri personnel and the SAR Team were still searching for the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Tomi.

The search operation has been carried out since December 19, 2024, until now using a helicopter belonging to Baharkam Polri and one other helicopter.

"We continue to try our best. Please pray from the whole community so that IPTU Tomi Marbun is found safe," said Ongky.
