Peak Of Christmas Homecoming At Sentani Jayapura Airport, Number Of Passengers Increases 9.7 Percent

JAYAPURA - Sentani International Airport Management (Bandara) in Jayapura Regency, Papua, recorded an increase in the number of passengers by 9.7 percent or reached 7,571 passengers at the peak of the 2024 Christmas homecoming flow.

The peak of the 2024 Christmas homecoming flow at Sentani International Airport occurred on Saturday, December 21.

"The peak of the homecoming flow occurred yesterday (Saturday 21/12), based on data from the integrated post, an increase of 9.7 percent or reached 7,571 passengers compared to 2023, namely 6,897 passengers," said Stakeholder Relations Department Head of Sentani Airport Surya Eka in Sentani, Sunday, December 22, confiscated by Antara.

According to Surya, while the movement of aircraft has decreased by 36 percent, namely 122 aircraft movements compared to the Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024 periods, namely 191 aircraft movements.

Meanwhile, cargo also decreased by 42.7 percent, namely 328,486 kg compared to last year's 573,601 kg.

"In this world of aviation it is normal and will definitely continue to change from time to time," he said.

He explained, while for the most destination cities or favorites of passengers for the Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 periods from Sentani Airport are Wamena, Timika, Jakarta and Makassar.

"We hope that the services provided by Sentani International Airport officers are good and the community is satisfied with the performance of officers in the field," he said.

He added that planes and cargo had decreased because there had been a reduction in cargo aircraft flights ahead of the 2024 Christmas holiday.

"For passengers, the homecoming flow consists of 3,692 passengers arriving and 3,879 passengers departing," he said.

Meanwhile, the cumulative data for Sentani Airport traffic on 18-21 December 2024, during the 2024 Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays decreased by 0.7 percent, namely 27,273 passengers compared to last year's 27,966 passengers.

For aircraft movements, 25.6 percent decreased, namely 540 aircraft movements compared to last year's period of 728 aircraft movements.

For cargo, it also decreased by 35.6 percent, namely 1,409,718 kg compared to last year's 2,188,910 kg.
