After Being Fired By PDIP, The Public Majority Considers Jokowi Suitable To Join Gerindra

JAKARTA The results of a recent survey from the Indonesian Voters Institute (LPI) revealed that the majority of the public considered that the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was suitable to join the Gerindra Party after he was no longer a member of the PDIP.

Jokowi's closeness with President Prabowo Subianto is a key factor that is considered to be able to provide benefits for both parties.

Deputy Director of LPI, Ali Ramadhan, conveyed this finding at the launch of the survey results entitled "The Evaluation of the Red and White Cabinet at the End of 2024 and the 2025 Projection" which took place in Central Jakarta on Friday, December 20.

"The public community wants Pak Jokowi to join the Gerindra Party because of his close relationship with Pak Prabowo, the continuity of development, and the similarity of ideology," said Ali.

The survey showed that 37.84% of respondents wanted Jokowi to join the Gerindra Party. The next position is occupied by the Golkar Party with 23.48%, followed by PKB (8.15%), PAN (6.58%), Democratic Party (5.53%), and PKS (2.58%). Meanwhile, the rest answered they did not know or did not provide a response.

The survey results also revealed that 65.32% of respondents agreed that Jokowi joined the political party after retirement and left the PDIP. A total of 31.28% disagreed, while the rest did not answer.

"Those who agree reason that support for the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka government needs to continue to be consolidated. This reason was chosen by 37.42% of respondents," said Ali.

Several other reasons presented by respondents could strengthen political support (23.27%), strengthening the direction of development towards Indonesia Gold 2045 (21.45%), Jokowi still has strong social-political capital (13.27%).

"The rest answered whether they did not know or did not give an opinion," Ali added.

The LPI survey was conducted on December 12, 2024, involving 700 respondents from 20 major provinces in Indonesia. The methods used are face-to-face interviews and online interviews, with a margin of error of 3.69% at the 95% confidence level.

Respondents involved are intellectual middle class groups with higher education (S1, S2, S3) who actively participated in socio-political developments during 2024.

The results of this survey show the potential for great support if Jokowi chooses to anchor to Gerindra after his tenure as president.
