After Going Viral, 18 Police Officers Alleged To Be Malaysian Tourists At The 2024 DWP Event Were Arrested
JAKARTA The National Police's Propam Division secured 18 personnel suspected of being involved in the extortion case against a Malaysian during the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) on December 13, 2024.
Karopenmas Divhumas Polri Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko said that the 18 individuals came from various units, including Polda Metro Jaya, Polres Metro Central Jakarta, and Polsek Metro Kemayoran.
"Divisi Propam Polri telah mengamankan 18 terduga oknum personel yang bertugas pada saat itu. Seluruhnya akan diperiksa lebih lanjut untuk memastikan dugaan pelanggaran," ujar Trunoyudo seperti dikutip dari ANTARA, Sabtu, 21 Desember.
Brigadier General Trunoyudo emphasized that the National Police will not tolerate violations committed by its members. This decisive action taken reflects the Polri's commitment to enforcing the law in order to increase protection, protection, and service to the community.
"We ensure that there is no place for individuals to tarnish the name of the institution. The investigation process is carried out in a professional, transparent and comprehensive manner," he said.
This case caught the public's attention after the X account @Twt_Rave uploaded a report about the alleged extortion by police officers against spectators of DWP from Malaysia.
In his upload, the account states that more than 400 spectators from Malaysia were victims of sudden arrests and urine tests. The police officer allegedly asked for large amounts of money even though the victim's urine test results showed negative results.
