Not Kapok, Craigh Wright Claims To Be Satoshi Nakamoto Again
JAKARTA - Craig Wright, who previously claimed to be the creator of Bitcoin, is back in the spotlight after a British court ruled a surprising decision against him.
On Thursday 20 December 2024, Wright was found guilty of violating the court's decision to break his claim as Satoshi Nakamoto. The British court sentenced him to court insults for Wright's actions in continuing his claim as creator of Bitcoin after the court's decision to stop claiming it.
This case originated from a lawsuit filed by Wright last October. In his lawsuit, he explained that Bitcoin had deviated from Nakamoto's initial vision and that Bitcoin developers had misled investors.
Wright even demanded more than $1 billion for the losses incurred from the claim, citing Bitcoin SV (Satoshi Vision) as the only legitimate Bitcoin. These demands sparked a strong response from Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), which eventually filed charges for court insults.

In March 2024, a British court ruled that Wright was not Satoshi Nakamoto, and he was required to publicly disclose that he was not the creator of Bitcoin. However, even though the decision had been issued, Wright continued to claim himself as Nakamoto. This ultimately led the court to sentence the court of insulting him.
Judge James Mellor of the UK High Court decided to suspend a prison sentence of two years, on condition that Wright stop suing on behalf of Nakamoto. If Wright violates again, he could face up to one year in prison.
COPA attorney Tristan Sherliker said the court's decision should be the end of Wright's controversial story that continues to defend claims that have been denied by the court.
This case further worsened Wright's image in the eyes of the crypto community, who has been questioning the truth of his claim to be the creator of Bitcoin. Meanwhile, Satoshi Nakamoto's true identity is still a big mystery today.
