Members Of The House Of Representatives Pks Faction Wonder Homecoming Prohibited But Local Tourist Destinations Opened: Strange, Will Be Many Crowds

JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives Netty Prasetiyani highlighted a policy that opens tourist destinations for local residents around tourist areas but prohibits people from going home.

"What is this policy for? If the ban on homecoming to minimize the spread of COVID-19, why are tourist destinations actually opened and allowed?" said Netty Prasetiyani in a release in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, April 15.

According to him, such a policy has the potential to make people confused and stubborn to stay home. Netty asked the government to be consistent in making policy because currently Indonesia's COVID-19 cases are still high.

"It is strange that people are forbidden to go home, but tourism remains open. It is certain that people who do not go home will fill these tourist attractions," he said.

He reminded that the vaccination process that is touted as a game changer to overcome COVID-19 is also still running slowly.

Entrepreneurs welcomed the invitation of The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno to visit local tourist destinations because it is expected to be an alternative way to excite MSMEs in tourist sites following the policy of banning Eid al-Fitr homecoming.

"The invitation of the Minister of Tourism to visit local destinations is an alternative to excite SMEs in tourist sites. Although only visited by local people is expected to boost the turnover of creative industry players in the region," said Chairman of the DPD Association of Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs (Hippi) DKI Jakarta Sarmam Simanjorang in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 7.

Sarman said the ban on Eid al-Fitr homecoming this year is indeed a blow for SME actors in the area, because this time they can not enjoy the momentum of Eid mudik where usually travelers from the city will spend their money in homecoming destinations, especially in tourist locations in the area.

Vice Chairman of the Jakarta Kadin Advisory Council hopes that although the destination can still be opened and visited by the local community, it will be able to boost the turnover of creative industry players in the region.

"There are minimal opportunities for tourism and the creative economy although it may not be maximal because visitors do not come from outside the city," he said.
