Mason Mount Meets Specialist Doctor To Overcome Injury, Absent Against Tottenham
JAKARTA - Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim revealed that Mason Mount has met with specialist doctors to deal with his latest injury.
Mount was replaced by Kobbie Mainoo in the 14th minute in the Manchester Derby on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the Etihad Stadium after suffering a muscle injury.
The injury left him absent in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Tottenham Hotspur, Friday, December 20, 2024, early morning WIB.
"He is not available. We will assess the length of time, he met a specialist today (Wednesday, December 18, 2024), so we'll see," said Amorim about Mount.
Amoritism doesn't want to make assumptions about Mount's injury. He will see further examinations to see to what extent he will miss.
"Not (long enough) for now. We will know approximately today (how serious the injury is)," said the Portuguese coach.

Mount's journey at Old Trafford was filled with injury problems. He only played once for 90 minutes in an 18-month Manchester United shirt.
No wonder he looked very upset when he was forced out against Manchester City last weekend.
"He's so sad. In the dressing room, he's so very sad. So, we need to help him."
"When the player was at this moment with so many injuries and this schedule, there wasn't much training session with all the squad to make the burden he needed. Trying to do it with training, but it wasn't the same."
"It's difficult. We have to maintain the burden. We have to travel. By traveling, you can't train. So, it's very difficult for them."
"We're going to try to find a better way to recover players, like Mount and Luke Shaw, because after a few weeks and a few months, they'll be ready for a lot of things," Amorim said.
Mount was not included in the Manchester United squad that went to London to meet Spurs, but Alejandro Garnacho has returned.
Garnacho and Marcus Rashford were both removed from the squad against Manchester City.
Rashford is also likely to miss the game against Spurs after he doesn't take the train south from Stockport Station.
Meanwhile, Garnacho is part of the group that departed on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. Amorim said he had been happy with the Argentine international since missing the Manchester Derby.
"Very good, he trained very well. He looked a little annoyed with me and it was perfect."
"I am very, very happy because I will do the same. He is ready for this match (against Tottenham)," said the 39-year-old coach.
Rashford was unable to train on Monday, December 16, 2024, due to illness. However, the day after, the 27-year-old gave an interview in which he hinted to want to leave Old Trafford.
It's not clear why Rashford didn't travel with the rest of the squad to London. However, Amoritism hints that he will take different actions than expressing his wishes to the public.
"If this is me, maybe, I will talk to the manager. However, my friends, let's focus on Tottenham," he said.
