5 Paralyzed Rebels Killed In Gunfight With Indian Military

JAKARTA - The Indian military said five members of the insurgent group were killed in a shootout on Thursday 19 December.

The shootout took place in a joint operation of the army and police after receiving reports of militant members hiding in a village in the southern Kulagam District,

"Militan opened fire blindly in large numbers at the attack troops, which led to a shootout," read a statement from the Indian military, quoted from AP.

In addition to the deaths of five militant members, the shootout also left two of them injured.

Kasmir, the location of this shootout, has two divisions of territory controlled by India and Pakistan. The two countries also insisted on owning themen.

In India's territory ofAIL, militants have continued to act undermining the Indian government since 1989.

However, many Muslimcitizens support the rebel's goal of uniting the region under the leadership of Pakistan or as an independent country.
