Men's Singles Coach Irwansyah Officially Leaves PBSI

JAKARTA The Indonesian men's singles sector coach, Irwansyah, confirmed that he would not continue his cooperation as a tactician at the Cipayung PBSI National Training Center after his contract expires at the end of this month.

This information was conveyed by the 50-year-old coach in a long statement via WhatsApp to the media sent on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

"My work contract as the men's singles coach with PBSI will be completed by the end of December. I accept job offers as a coach from several countries," reads a message from Irwansyah.

Irwansyah was no longer sent to accompany Indonesian men's singles athletes in two major tournaments at the end of this year, namely the China Masters and BWF World Tour Finals 2024.

Irwansyah admitted that PBSI did not give any interest at all until today regarding their decision not to send themselves to the two important events.

"So I decided to accept one of the offers from abroad. I want to try new challenges and find new experiences living abroad with my wife and child," he said.

During his eight years at the PBSI National Training Center, Irwansyah achieved a number of proud achievements. One of them is bringing Jonatan Christie to the All England 2024 champion to end his three-decade men's singles title fast.

In addition, he also brought the men's singles champion at the Asian Championships for two consecutive years, each through Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in 2023 and Jonatan Christie in 2024.

The other two titles are bringing Alwi Farhan to the men's singles junior world champion and helping the Indonesian team win the Thomas Cup in Denmark to end the 19-year title drought.

Irwansyah will continue his career by training the men's singles of India. Rumors of him leaving for India have actually been going on since November 2024.
