Prabowo Appreciates Egypt As An Intermediary For Sending Indonesian Humanitarian Aid To Palestine

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto appreciated the Egyptian government for acting as hubs or intermediaries for sending humanitarian aid from Indonesia to the people of Gaza, Palestine.

The statement was made by President Prabowo in a joint statement with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, in front of the Indonesian and Egyptian delegates, at the Al Ittihadiya Presidential Palace, Cairo, Egypt, Wednesday, December 18.

"We really appreciate Egypt's strategic role as a negotiator of peace and also as a hub to encourage humanitarian aid to Gaza and other Palestinians," the President said.

According to the President, Indonesia was greatly helped by Egypt's role in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid from Indonesia through El Arish International Airport, which is the closest airport to the Gaza Strip.

"Egypt really helps us, our assistance through El Arish, an airfield from Egypt. Also we want to increase this aid and we are sure Egypt will continue to support us in this field," Prabowo said.

Presiden Prabowo mengatakan dalam pertemuan tatap muka dengan Presiden El-Sisi, kedua negara sepakat untuk terus berjuang mewujud mewujudkan perdamanan.

The two leaders agreed to push for a ceasefire in the Middle East for humanitarian rights.

In addition to supporting absolute independence for Palestine, the President said the Republic of Indonesia and Egypt agreed to encourage the achievement of the two-state solution.

The President also hopes that the state visit to Egypt, which was carried out for the first time in 10 years, will be the initial stage of developing better relations between Indonesia, Palestine and Egypt.

"Once again we will work together with Egypt to find an urgent peace solution for Palestine and the region," said the President.
