BI Prepares Money Worth A Circular Of IDR 133.7 Trillion At Christmas And New Year

JAKARTA - Bank Indonesia (BI) is committed to preparing a distributionable money of IDR 133.7 trillion during Christmas and New Year (Nataru).

"On Christmas and New Year's Day in 2024 we are committed to providing rupiah throughout the Republic of Indonesia, the money worth distribution is IDR 133.7 trillion," said BI Deputy Governor Doni P Joewono at a press conference, Wednesday, December 18.

Doni said the money that had been prepared had been distributed to banks throughout the country.

"This is spread in Java 54 percent, Sumatra 21 percent, Sulawesi 12 percent, Kalimantan 9 percent, and Bali Nusra 4 percent," he explained.

In addition, Doni conveyed to Nataru that this time BI also had a Semarak rupiah program on Peaceful Christmas Day (Serunai) to exchange money which was held in the period 15 to 20 December 2024 with a total of IDR 345 billion.

Doni conveyed that the money was exchanged in mobile cash where BI visited churches and schools throughout the country.

"We use cash around to become BI directly to the church, to the school, coincidentally we prioritize the city with a lot of exchanges," he said.

Doni explained that the supply of money was also included to ensure the stock in the ATM.

Doni noted that to date, from the money provided of Rp. 133.7 trillion, the money that has been withdrawn by banks is around Rp.52.5 trillion or around 39.3 percent. As of the fourth week of December, the money is estimated to be absorbed by 95 percent.

In the program, the public can exchange Rp100,000 denominations for Rp15 billion, Rp50,000 denominations of around Rp20 billion, and Rp20,000 denominations of Rp25 billion, Rp10,000 of Rp50 billion, and Rp5,000 available as much as Rp100 billion.
